This Seat Belt Adapter Plug fits 1962-1965 Beetles, 1962-1965 Karmann Ghias and 1962-1967 Bus. This threaded seat belt adapter allows the mounting of seat belts without having to drill any holes. Early Bugs & Ghias have factory-installed threaded seat belt holes on both the floor and center tunnel. At the time, VW used larger seat belt bolts. The Seat Belt Bolt Adapter Plug allows you to utilize standard seat belt bolts (included with all of our seat belts) by screwing the adapter plugs into the factory-installed holes. These adapter plugs will accept the threaded bolts included with each seat belt. Plug is threaded 24mm on the outside and 7/16″ fine thread on the inside.
How many Adapter Plugs do I need for my car?
Quantity will vary, so we always recommend you check your vehicle before purchasing adapter plugs.
If your car predates 1966 you will need at least 4 adapter plugs for the tunnel mounts (A & D). If you have the original German floorpans you will also need 2 more adapter plugs for both driver and passenger outside front mounts.(B) If your floorpans have been replaced you should NOT require adapter plugs, as aftermarket pans do not accomidate adapter plugs. Rear outside seat belt mounts usually attach to the bolt used to fold the rear seat. (C) No adapter plugs should be required for “C”.
A = 2 Required if pre-1966.
B = 2 Possibly required if you have original German pre-1966 floorpans.
C = None required, belts attaches to rear seat bolt.
D = 2 Required if pre-1966.
